Are there circumstances where the U.S. Census Bureau will release the Electronic Export Information (EEI)? (FTR section 30.60)
Yes, the EEI may be supplied to the U.S. Principal Party in Interest and authorized U.S. agents for compliance and auditing purposes. The EEI may also be supplied to federal agencies for official purposes when deemed to be in the national interest pursuant to Title 13, United States Code, Chapter 9, Section 301(g). Official purposes are defined to include but are not limited to: a) Verification and investigation of export shipments, including penalty assessments, for export control and compliance purposes; b) Providing proof of export; and c) Statistical purposes.
